During the expert consultation with retail traders from X5 Retail Group, METRO Cash and Carry, ECR Russia and the Retail Companies Association, Deputy Head of the Administrative, Financial and Information Technologies Department of RusAccreditation Yuri Butenko announced bringing into use the designed capability of recording in RusAccreditation's Federal State Information System, alongside with the data ensuring product identification, the information about 13-digit GTIN numbers conforming to the barcodes placed on products.
This feature was realized by the Federal Accreditation Service, among other things, in accordance with the decisions of the Mobile Quality Workgroup of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI). Earlier, the Head of RusAccreditation Alexey Khersontsev noted that "such measure will enable unique identification of products for which a certificate was issued or a declaration registered, which is vital in the context of the overarching objective to ensure traceability of products and upgrade the quality of these registers."
Information concerning the global numbers of an article of merchandise, as part of the information on certificates and declarations, may be input into the RusAccreditation's Federal State Information System both by applicants when registering their declaration through the electronic declaration registration service, and by certification bodies when entering information about issued certificates and registered declarations into the corresponding registers.
The retail traders approved the result of the efforts taken by the Federal Accreditation Service in this area and reported their intent to use the product GTIN information to be input in the Service registers.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the prospects of integrating the information systems of retail chains with RusAccreditation registers. The market players put forward an initiative to increase the scope of the product data entered in the registers.
Yuri Butenko advised that the possibility and the method of increasing the scope of the product data in the context of the expected upgrade of RusAccreditation's Federal State Information System will be explored before the end of 2017 in cooperation with the workgroup for retail trade relations of the Public Council under RusAccreditation.
