On October 14-15, the delegation of the RusAccreditation led by the Head of the Service, Alexey Khersontsev, visited Tehran (Islamic Republic of Iran) in the development of the Memorandum of Understanding signed on March 28, 2017 between the Federal Service for Accreditation and the National Accreditation Center of Iran (NACI).
As guests of honor, the delegation of the RusAccreditation took part in the solemn ceremony dedicated to the World Standards Day. The event was chaired by the President of the Institute of Standards and Industrial Research of Iran (ISIRI) Saadat Piruzbakht. The vice president of Iran Eshaq Jahangiri and other officials of the country also attended the ceremony. During the ceremony, the best manufacturers and certification bodies of Iran were awarded. The delegation of RusAccreditation also visited the RAZI Metallurgical Research Center, specializing in product testing and research projects in materials science and mechanical engineering.
During the visit of the Head of the RusAccreditation and representatives of the National Institute for Accreditation of the RusAccreditation to Iran, the delegation was also received by the President of the Institute of Standards and Industrial Research of Iran Saadat Piruzbakht. The meeting was attended by the Head of the ISIRI Quality Department Muslim Bayat, ISIRI Advisor and Regional Coordinator of the Halal direction Mohammed Aliabadi, representatives of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, the Customs Service of Iran, the Iranian Chamber of Commerce and other organizations.
Special attention was paid to Halal certification, accreditation of inspection bodies and expanding access of Russian goods to the Iranian market. Following the meeting, further steps were outlined to develop mutual cooperation in the field of accreditation, including accreditation of Halal products for export to Iran. The parties noted the need to establish a Halal certification center in Russia, which will ensure the certification of export products recognized in Iran.
The working meeting of Alexey Khersontsev with the Head of the National Accreditation Center of Iran, Alireza Khakifiruz was an important part of the visit. Within the meeting, the issue of accreditation of the Astrakhan branch of FSBI "Rostov Reference Center of Rosselkhoznadzor" by the Iranian accreditation body NACI was raised, that will facilitate the export of Russian grain. Following the negotiations, a draft Memorandum of Understanding Development Plan between the Federal Service for Accreditation and the National Accreditation Center of Iran (NACI), which include concrete steps of cooperation in the field of Halal, testing of agricultural products and the recognition of the results of grain testing of Russian state laboratories, was signed.
In his address to the host, Alexey Khersontsev noted that the visit would contribute much to the strengthening of historical and trade relations with Iran, as well as the implementation of Russia's national export promotion plan. «The national accreditation bodies of Russia and Iran face similar tasks, the importance of cooperation with the Islamic Republic is difficult to overestimate», emphasized the Head of the RusAccreditation.
The National Accreditation Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran (NACI) was established in 1997 and is currently an associate member of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), as well as a member of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF). NACI as the national accreditation body of Iran is administered by the Institute of Standards and Industrial Research of Iran (ISIRI), the main coordinating body of Iran’s national quality system, working in the fields of standardization, conformity assessment, and accreditation.
