Oreshkin does not exclude Russia’s accession to the OECD

April 26, 2017

The Minister of Economic Development Maksim Oreshkin called for preparations for the resumption of negotiations on Russia's accession to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (the OECD). In his opinion, "sooner or later" it will happen.

He said this at the meeting of the board of the Federal Service for Accreditation, emphasizing the need to develop a system of good laboratory practice (GLP) in Russia. Now 10 leading laboratories in Russia have achieved participation in GLP, bringing their equipment and qualifications of experts in compliance with the stringent requirements of the OECD standards.

Negotiations with the OECD on the format of launching the GLP system in Russia began in 2013, however, like in other areas of the organization's work, they were interrupted after the introduction of sanctions.

Maksim Oreshkin also noted a gradual reduction on the market of unfair conformity assessment. Since 2011, as a result of "clearing" the register of accredited persons, their number has decreased by 40 percent, while the number of testing laboratories has decreased from 9881 to 6367, as for certification bodies – from 1755 to 988.
