Accreditation of 1 245 conformity assessment bodies has been withdrawn

August 03, 2015

An order on withdrawal of accreditation of 1 245 conformity assessment bodies (CABs) dealing with safety confirmation of imported goods was issued on July 29, 2015.  It amounts to round 10% of all CABs operating in Russia.

Withdrawal was caused by failure to meet the requirements of the Russian Federal Law № 412 dated December 28, 2013 “On accreditation in the national accreditation system”, providing that within a given time all accredited bodies must apply RusAccreditation for reassessment.

In particular, roughly 5 000 from more than 10 000 accredited bodies had to apply for reassessment before June 2, 2015. The accreditation of the bodies, that failed to do so, was suspended, but at the same time an opportunity was given to them to correct the said violation and make an application before July 1, 2015. 1 245 entities failed to do so, which resulted in withdrawal of their accreditation.
