The Annual General Assembly ILAC/IAF 2016 took place in India

The Head of Rusaccreditation Alexey KHERSONTSEV and leading Rusaccreditation representatives took part in the Annual General Assembly of ILAC/IAF 2016 held in New Delhi, INDIA, from October 26 to November 4 2016, and in other meetings of the main work bodies of these organizations within the framework of this event.

Traditionally, within agenda’s framework of the largest international event in the field of accreditation, which brought together representatives from over 100 countries to review the outcomes of ILAC and IAF activities for the past year to discuss topical issues of further improvement of the international system of accreditation and conformity assessment, approval of work plans for the next period.

Within the framework of GA ILAC/IAF were heard reports of Top management and the secretariats of ILAC/IAF meetings, major commissions and working groups of these organizations on the performed work and activities done since the last meeting, held in Milan in late October - early November 2015.

Among the most important decisions made during ILAC, the decision to establish a 3-year transition period to start using the updated version of the standard ISO/IEC 17025 (after its publication in 2017) should be noted. After that period, accreditation of laboratories under the current version of the standard (ISO/IEC 17025: 2005) will no longer be recognized under the MRA. The decisions on the accession of new members to the regime of mutual recognition agreements, as well as the expansion of scope under the MRA for a number of active participants were also approved at the GA IAF.

The Head of Rusaccreditation had several meetings with the Heads of National Accreditation bodies of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEC), such as Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan during which they discussed issues of cooperation in scope of accreditation under the EAEC on the fields of united GA ILAC / IAF 2016.

The matters of mutual interest on the bilateral agenda, as well as possible ways to establish practical cooperation between accreditation bodies were discussed during individual meetings of the Head of Rusaccreditation and Executives of national accreditation bodies of Moldova, Germany and Serbia. 

The Head of Rusaccreditation had also brief conversation with the President of IAF Xiao JIANHUA, as well as the Head of the European co-operation for Accreditation Thomas FACKLAM.
